The Broadway Musical That Was So Good It Almost Killed Me

You’re crazy if you haven’t heard of Hamilton! This Broadway musical is the hottest show on the scene right now. And it was so good that I almost died (not really, I’m still alive). Here are 5 reasons why Hamilton is taking over Broadway.

The story is so captivating because it’s based on a true story. The music is so amazing and creative because Lin-Manuel Miranda, the writer of Hamilton, plays all of the characters. The cast is made up of some of the best Broadway actors out there, including Leslie Odom Jr., who was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical.

And the production is so well done because it has a book and music that are so amazing. The choreography, costumes and sets are all stunning. And the show has 8 sold out shows every week, making it one of the most successful Broadway shows of all time.

But the most amazing thing about Hamilton is that it’s based on a historical figure. Alexander Hamilton, a Founding Father of the U.S., was a giant among giants. He was an immigrant from the Caribbean who became one of our country’s first Treasury Department Secretaries, as well as one of our nation’s first Secretary of State. He was also an unbelievable founding father, who helped create the ideas that we all know and love today, like the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

But Hamilton’s most amazing accomplishment was the creation of the Bank of the United States, which was used to fund our country’s war effort. The bank wasn’t only essential in helping to fund our military, but in establishing a foundation for a strong country.

And what did Alexander Hamilton do with his bank? He made sure it helped people that were hurting, like African Americans and Native Americans. So while he helped establish one of our nation’s greatest successes, he also made sure we were making strides to help others.

Learn about how Theater Can help Your Writing

So what can we learn from Alexander Hamilton? That no matter who you are, you’re an important part of society. That every voice matters, and every person counts. And that this country is a great place because it belongs to everyone, including people of all races and genders.

And if I had to pick a theme for Hamilton, I think it would be “let’s give everyone the same opportunity.” So when you think about our Founding Fathers, don’t just think about the men and women with names like Jefferson and Washington. Think of the people who make this country great, like Alexander Hamilton.

And there’s one more reason why I love Hamilton…

If you’re disappointed that you can’t get tickets to see this amazing show, here’s a tip: go see the touring company. There are several stops across the U.S. this summer. And best of all, it’s playing right here in Minneapolis!

So what are you waiting for? Time to start writing your own Hamilton!
